Paintball Barrels, an added accessory for custom made accuracy

Paintball barrels are probably the first part that you’ll consider upgrading after buying your own paintball marker. For starters, they’re one of the most important parts of your paintball gun: no matter how great your feeder and firing system is, without a good paintball barrel you won’t get a decent firing range or accuracy. Besides, it’s one of the easiest parts to replace at any time, quickly and easily.

A professional paintball player will most likely keep a set of different paintball barrels in his accessory bag. Depending on the type of match, woodsball or speedball, you might prefer using different barrels. Most players use 12-16” long barrels though recent tests have shown that a 6 to 8” unported paintball barrel is the most efficient measurement. Some players still use longer barrels, 21 inches long – with some using custom made 48 inches, though its touted improved accuracy and extra range is still to be proved.

If you take paintball seriously, I’d recommend you get a three-piece paintball barrel for maximum versatility. This will allow you to easily adapt to a number of different bore sizes maximizing accuracy. You can also have a look at spin barrels, which can improve range by imparting backspin to the paintballs. However, by reducing its speed, its long range effectiveness is questionable, as most balls will fail to break at those ranges – though it can still be put to good use if you’re in a defending role.
